So, another (the 9th) great COINS 3 Peaks Challenge comes to an end. 42 Teams from the construction industry were involved this year. The weather wasn’t quite the glorious sunshine of last year, but that did nothing to dampen the spirits of the teams involved. They pushed on through the rain and hardship regardless.

As the old saying goes – “no pain no gain” – and the gain for the COINS Foundation projects around the world has been substantial this year. With the teams (in alphabetical order) Adam Pollack Trust, BAM 1, BAM 2, Barclays 1, Barclays 2, Chevron Traffic Management, COINS UK, Costain Evap D 1, Costain Evap D 2, Costain PDR 1, Costain PDR 2, Costain Pontypridd, Friel Construction, Fusion Experience, Gladedale 1, Gladedale 2, Groundforce Technical, Home Build Supplies, Hotcourses 1, Hotcourses 2, Interserve Project Services, Jardine Lloyd Thompson, Kier Ltd 1, Kier Ltd 2, Lloyds, May Gurney, Miller Homes, Oil and Gas, Osborne Homebuilders, Osborne Rail, Pervasic, RBS, SES, Shepherd Construction, St Giles Trust, Taylor Wimpey Directors 1, Taylor Wimpey Directors 2, Taylor Wimpey SWT 1, Taylor Wimpey SWT 2 and Total Objects out doing each other with their fundraising efforts, it’s amazing what can be done!

This year the industry pledged a total of £228,900, an amazing amount that the COINS Foundation will use to change the lives of many people around the world. Have a look at our Projects for 2011 for full details of where the money will be invested this year.

Out of the 41 teams that participated this year, most of which are coming back year on year, only half made it in the 24 hours. This just goes to show what a difficult and yet rewarding event it is. First over the line this year were both teams from Costain (who had clearly been training hard!) Team PDR 1 just managed to pip team Evap D 2 to the post (20hrs 1min and 21hrs and 10mins respectively). They were followed swiftly by Lloyds and Groundforce Technical.

Whilst the COINS 3 Peaks Challenge 2011 is now over, the teams continue to fundraise. Please visit their sites for information on how to support them or donate directly to the COINS Foundation.
